Graphic design monitor?

Hi all,

I'm looking to complete my rig update with a new monitor and graphics card (of which I've nearly decided on). I've had a look around at some options available but am hoping there might be a few hidden gems out there you guys may know of.

I am a graphic designer, which includes 3D modelling with programs such as Maya and 3ds Max, and a lot of web design using Photoshop, Illustrator and Fireworks, plus gaming, meaning colour is something that's important to me. With this being said, I know IPS displays are great for this but they are just way out of my price range, especially with the probability of getting a new graphics card at the same time.

I'm looking for sure to be in the range of 24" as I'm currently at 22" with my LG M228WAm, with 1920x200 res being beneficial in the long run.

Two monitors I've seen so far are the following BenQ's:

BenQ XL2410T
Benq BL2400PT

The the XL2410T is probably max on what I'm looking to spend, but if its slightly above and worth, I'd defo consider it.

Any ideas guys?

Both of those are TN panels, which are not well suited to professional design work. You'll want to look into getting an IPS panel for better color accuracy and viewing angles.

The Dell U2311H, NEC EA231WMi, and U2410 (wide gamut) are all solid options in that size/price range.

An IPS or a PVA (best of both worlds ) would be best. If you're gonna game, IPS is perfectly fine. You may notice some ghosting on some monitors but its fine.

If you can find your self a deal on a Dell U2711 it would probably be the last monitor you ever buy. @ 2560x1600 and it's amazing color it is easily one of the best monitors for any artist to own! 27" may seem big but for 3D applications the extra room on the screen would do wonders. It's also has one of the best pixel densities out there.

It's actually 2560x1440, but I agree! It is one of the best monitors I've ever had the pleasure of working/gaming on

I don't think a new one would fit in the OP's budget however.

Thanks for all the info guys, as much as I would love that U2711, 1. It wouldn't fit on my desk, 2. I'd probably go blind due to the distance I would have to sit away to make it somewhat fit on my desk, and then 3. Too much dineros haha, one day hopefully.

Atm, it looks like a weigh up between the U2311H and the U2410, but it'd probably be the former as I don't know whether I could stretch to the near £300+ for the latter.

Any other suggestions worth noting?
