I liked there response on why they aren't just working on HL2: Ep3. They are branching out to other things instead of just releasing there money cow every year(CoD). Which enables them to come back and work on the sequel with really fresh, new, innovative ideas, which is most likely why there games are so good.

our goal is to have folks be able to access their games on whatever platform they’re on and as much as we can deliver that through Steam, the better.
If only more game developers had that sort of attitude rather than scheming up ways to squeeze every possible nickel out of its customers.

That’s the way your music is, right? It doesn’t matter; you don’t have to pay for it on your car stereo and on your home stereo, it’s just your music.
Somebody is about to get a nastygram from the RIAA.

This is why valve is and always will be my favorite company. I will always follow and respect them, they are the few that actually looks out for their customers instead of taking a huge dump on them. Although I would love to see Ep3 or HL3 I can wait longer, I'll just have BF3 to keep my occupied.
