Upgrading my current build

Thread Starter
Heya,
I'm kinda in the market to upgrade some components of my current main desktop build (in my sig). Everything is running pretty good, the Athlon II X2 250 @ 3.6Ghz can scream, but I need something more, as is usually the case.

So, between the X2 250, and the HD4870, which would be the limiting factor?

And what would make a worthwhile upgrade for either? Not necessarily on a set budget, but nothing too extravagant.

Thanks for the help, <3 OCN.

6950 would make the most difference.

An X4 would be nice though.

According to various sources I've looked at, the 6950 on average draws more power than the 4870. Would my Corsair 550w handle it + a Phenom X4? I know eventually I'll need to upgrade that PSU as awesome as it is, though.

Corsair 550VX would be plenty for a single HD 6950 and a Phenom X4.

Thanks! I have been out of the hardware loop for a tad too long, knowing the tiers kinda helps.

965 is same price as 955 on newegg currently. was going to ask if the 965 overclocked better to warrant the price difference but it seems it doesn't matter. lol

6950 is worth the extra $ over the 6870 if you can afford it. if not, 6870 is still good.

I'd get a vid card but I wouldn't spend money on an AMD chip till BD comes out.
