e67 processor swap need help

Thread Starter

HI i recently traded a 410 shotgun for a emachines e627-5279 laptop for my girlfriend with out even really checking it out so i was kinda disappointed to find out it had a tf-20 single core inside .... but soon found out that people online have replaced the tf-20 with a tl-52 dual core... even found a video on how to take it apart

i just need to know is there any reason not to go biger like the tl60 2ghz? like will it overheat more with the the tl602ghz compared to the tl56 1.8

You should look at the TDP of the processors, the DC may be consuming more than the single core - which means hotter and/or noisier as the cooling system will try to cope with the heat. Also the battery runtime could be reduced (but that be compensated by capping the CPUs @50% in battery mode).
That said, I would also change the CPU is possible. A single core, while enough for some tasks, can be quite annoying if there's anything running in the background. You should mount the DC and test the laptop like any overclocked rig to see if the cooling system copes with the extra load.
