Keep Getting BSOD

Thread Starter
I keep getting BSOD and I even got a RSOD tossed in there. I have no clue and google has offered me no help. I hope one of you can help me. I can shoot out the BSOD codes if ya like but here are some pics from the event viewer. This happens when I'm playing crysis or watching a movie. I took off all overclocks (I'll update my system right after this post).

I have no clue how to go about fixing this. It seems like every time it crashed WMI is listed in the event viewer. I got a BSOD with atikmdag.sys and I found a page that said disable Areo. So I did and I thought it was fixed so I played about 20min of crysis and thought it was fine. Then watching netflix bam it happened again with a different BSOD. I did memtest for over 8 hours with no errors. Any other steps I should take? Thanks in advance.

Memory isn't the issue here, it is definitely with either A) your graphics card being unstable or hurt from the OC or B) the drivers that you are using for your GFX have became unstable for some unknown reason. Now, I don't know what driver version you are using but I would definitely try re-installing a different set of drivers first and see if they problem still occurs. Even when you have a movie through netflix maximized it is using GPU processing.

i would agree that the gpu was damaged by the Overclock or the drivers you are using are corrupted in some manner, as suggested try removing and then reinstalling the latest stable ati catalyst drivers.

btw, what is a RSOD? i've never seen one of those in windows? if it was a bluescreen with a red back ground, i would imagine something is wrong with the graphics card then, and its ability to process rgb data

I haven't overclocked the gpu's at all. I wanted to but a lot of people said it wasn't worth it. Also when it first started i updated the drivers with no fix. I'm going to update them again and see what happens. If it keep's it up I'll take it out of crossfire and stress test them on there own. Hope it's my newer card(still under warranty). It all started after I installed crysis. Think that might have something to do with it? Thanks guys.

okay so i pulled out the gpu in the second slot and ran crisis. Once again BSOD so i swapped that one out and put in the other one. After rebooting windows said that there was no drivers installed for my gpu.? I don't get that. Well I reinstalled the drivers restarted and still said there were no drivers so I clicked for windows to finish installing them and now I'm going to do another restart.

Well I got everything squared away with the second card and it's still messed up. It didn't BSOD this time but it locked up. I don't understand what the hell is going on with this thing. Can someone point me in the right direction. Ohh and the RSOD is the same just red. I looked around and I read that sometimes you can get a red screen on some versions of vista. what are the chances of both cards being messed up?

Well I did a run on furmark and the computer did a full shut down. All the power went off like I unplugged it(the green light on the mobo went out). Then it came back on(the light). I hate this thing right now. Its still the WMI thing in the event viewer not that I know what that means.

O.o holy hell...

1) reset bios to stock settings
2) bench test it
3) if passes it's the CPU; if not check the powersupply
4) if powersupply is okay try looking for a different bios version
5) if everything seem updated then time to check the ram one at a time
6) use IBT memtest to check it
7) if a memory module fails then we've found the issue; if they both pass...
8) CHUCK PC OUT WINDOW Could be a problem with the motherboard then.

You can't just say you fixed it without posting the fix! =O

EDIT: nvm, found it! Haha

Both crashes were verified enabled dumps and point to the driver for your Logitech USB Web Cam. Please uninstall any software/drivers for that device and see if the problem continues

Please also remove ATI Tool as it is not compatible with Windows Vista/7
