Slow File Copy

Thread Starter
Hey guys.

So a week or two ago I Installed all the updates I could find in Windows Update which ended up with the installation of SP1.
I haven't tested out the speed of copying files from one HDD to another since (exact same brand and capacity) because the rest of the OS works perfectly and I didn't need to transfer any large files.

Now yesterday, I had to move some stuff and the copy speed went as slow as 4Mb/s so I opened up my pc, reconnected the SATA cables, freed up some space and now, I'm getting from 60-80Mb/s, mostly ~65Mb/s while copying an 8Gb file compared to the 90-100Mb/s I used to get before installing all those updates.

Could this be because of SP1 and the updates?

The rest of the OS, with programs, games and all that stuff is working great.
My OS is not cluttered and I'm very careful with everything I do which led to having this installation since dec 2009.

Any idea what's going on?

I've tried defrags, replugged SATA cables again, cleaned up some stuff to free space, ran TuneUp 1 Click maintenance every day...

I'm out of ideas...
