Disappointed in my CPU - Page 5

yes, so when you system starts get into bios asap and see what it is set at. When someone asks what your VID is its what the chip will start with at stock, This means low VId = better OC potential + cooler chip.

So i went into bios and it told me that the CPUs max voltage was 1.4250 and the stock (auto) set the voltage to 1.4250v. Should I lower it to say 1.36v? Oh and i'm running it with only 1 core enabled.

Ok so you had core 0 only now disable core 0 and restart it with core 1, Post your VID with that core only. Also how long have you had this chip for?

Do you have HWMonitor? if you do can you tell me the temps of the core 0 and core 1, after that run the system with all cores and give me temps of all 3. I have a feeling your chip is degrating.

Since last year. I've only attempted to OC it a few times. Most of the time it stayed at stock.

The board isnt the issue as much as you think i promise lol. You need a better chip, yes the board is lacking in FSB oc ability which im sure is partially due to our 4+1 phase design as opposed to everyone elses 6 or 8+1 phases. I dont have any issues with getting to 4ghz but thats because i got a good chip lol. I did order however a 975BE cause in the reviews they've gotten it to 4ghz on stock voltages on air smile.gif. Save a little and get yourself a Calisto like the other guy said, there is a possibility your board can unlock it to a tri or quad and its only like 90 bucks or so right now.

Ok Core0 and Core1 are at 22c idle and are at 29c ~ 31c load with the voltage being reported at 1.472v

The board isn't the problem right now, even at stock his VId is to high so we ruled out anything but the chip, now we need ot find out what cores are damaged or pooched, maybe the OC you did a while ago might have damaged the cores or core.
