Exactly. It was done only to get better benchmarks against the 6990
. That's all. They crank the clock to much to compete with it.
The mega powerful marketing department.
Now, after the ''reviews'' are out for the 590, they will lower the clock more, hardlock voltage, OCP even in game, driver limiters...
Now that they had the ''good'' reviews saying that it's ''almost at the 6990 level''... It was a really bad trick for us consumers. I hope it's not sign of a new way of doing things for the future... Really nasty trick.
BIOS + drivers for reviewers to get better benchmarks, then another BIOS + drivers for consumers with the lower clock and performance it was SUPPOSED to have...
Nvidia should have done like AMD with the 6990 and put a BIOS switch on the 590, or 2 BIOS. Genious idea from AMD. At least they are honest, with an OC BIOS on the card.
After all those reviews for the 590 are out, we get the ''oups we are sorry, we will fix this now''. Yes, what ever...Edited by Levesque - 3/31/11 at 7:36am
