Is this a 'proper' IPS Monitor?

Thread Starter
Hi,

my friend is looking for a new monitor for photoshop and i just happen to come across this:

LG IPS226V
http://www.lg.com/hk/it-product/monitor/LG-IPS226V.jsp

its the perfect size and is cheap for a full HD 22" monitor, which will be used only for photo editing and some video editing. And its going for about $300

what do you guys think?

I have 3 and they look amazing. Easily besting any LED HDTV for Blu-ray movies.
Avatar looks really amazing on it. The colors are just wow. I compared side by side with some Mitsubishi monitors and other LG monitors and the colors on those look washed out with white. while they are rich on the IPS226V.

Great little monitor. But I'd go with the Dell 23" IPS.

Yep, it is an IPS monitor with LED backlighting. Be warned though that depending on what type of LED it is using, there is a chance colours might be slightly blue.

if you're looking for a cheap 22"(ish) IPS, the Dell U2211h is a very popular choice. It's 21.5", but theres a few on ebay right now new for only $200. LINK. I'd be buying 3 right now, but I'm leaving the country for 2 months, so I'll just have to catch them on sale again. I've done a bunch of research on 22" IPS, and finally decided on the u2211h cause it looks like the best bang for your buck

EDIT: they're $200, but with $25 shipping. i know the dell ebay store does the occasional sale at $200 with free shipping on these panels

Just a side-note. Sometimes the u2311h is on offer direct from dell. I got mine for less than the price of a u2211h which seemed crazy at the time.

Doesn't happen with this particular monitor.

It's pretty good, but the Dell U2311H has earned its reputation as the best monitor at that price range. It has more features like a USB hub and more connectivity. The stand is better made and lets you pivot, too. When it comes to aesthetics, I think the Dell looks more professional and elegant. When it comes for bang-for-buck it wins, too. You can get it for $30 less, and I think it's the best out of the two, so it gets my vote.

A bit of a revival, but my question concerns this very screen

I have found an IPS226V-PN for 140€

It's cheap, i'll get it, but i don't know what the PN stands for. The op has IPS226V.
