Overclocking e8500, Need setup help.

Thread Starter
Hi!

I have my Intel E8500 3,16GHz OC'ed to 4GHz.

Currently I have FSB: 421 and the multiplier on x9,5
My CPU Voltage are 1,35 I think. (I will correct this later if I'm wrong)
I have not OC'ed my RAM (Should I?)
I was wondering if someone knew what I should overclock my CPU to.
I got a bluescreen with those setups yesterday and I'm wondering why..
Should I go up to 4,3 GHz? If I should, can someone give me the setup? INCLUDING CPU voltage, and RAM if I have to overclock that as well.
OR should I keep my E8500 on 4GHz?

-TrainRain

By the way. My CPU is cool, so temperatures are not the problem.

What was the error code of the BSOD? also, does it happen constantly with your OC, or just a one time incident?

If you can post a CPU-Z validation for us to see all the OC settings.

I have gotten the blue screen a couple of times due to the voltage, but i changed the voltage, and it went better. I played Crysis 2 with no problem. Then I did the same thing the next day and suddenly i got the bluescreen.

I don't remember the code, and i have changed my OC to 3,95 now, and no problems this far..
But I want to have a 4GHz++ CPU, due to my graphics card...

I have HW Monitor and CPU-Z, I do not know why I must test my CPU on prime for hours, when I can just play games like Crysis 2 and it runs in 100% constantly.. (if it gets blue screen there I change the OC down, if it runs good I keep it and I don't acctually care if it can run for 24h on 100%, because that whould never be a reality anyway).

Blue Screen isn't a problem to me, the reason why I made this thread wasn't just about that.
I want to know which setup I must have to make it run as good as possible, then I see if I get errors.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thankfull for all the help, but it's not exactly what I was after.

ok lets begin.. can you tell me if it is ddr800 or ddr1066 ram?

tho problem with stability is that there is a chance that a bug might occur due instability when installing an important app for example. it is important to have a stable rig

small fft on prime to find out cpu vcore and blend to make the right nbvoltage

edit: i dont get u wrong (: we can make your OC stable in a short time, your components seem capable.. so why not?! ^^

You just said in two other posts that you're getting bluescreens, so you're obviously not %100 at 4.0, much less higher.

Sounds like you're half-assing it by overclocking and playing games to test. Then you're bluescreening, and you don't know why.

THEN you're asking how far you should push it, when the real answer to that is how fast can YOU push it and have NO bluescreens using half-assed methods.

If you can't go to 4.0 without bluescreens, and you don't want to do any stress testing and tweaking to stabilize your OC, then the answer is that you should DOWNCLOCK until you can play your games and NEVER have a bluescreen.

I don't know where that info is, but this was what I found about my RAM:
"OCZ DDR2 4096MB Gold GX XTC Dual Channel"
"PC2-6400 2x2048MB 800MHz. (5-5-5-18)"

Do you mean 800MHz by saying ddr800?
Sorry, I'm a noob at overclocking, this is my first time

I will install Prime later today..

BTW Smex..
I saw you had the same Graphics card as me (nice choice).
But I was wandering what you're 3DM Vantage score is (on performance settings)?
