i5 2400 temps

When i ran prime95 my cpu temp went from 30 degrees idle to almost 90 degrees using 4 threads within 5 minutes. is this normal?

Im using the stock heatsink and tim.

edit: oh and i didnt overclock either.

Doubtful on a 2400 (w. no unlocked multiplier). Try a better cooler.

Check to make sure that all four of the push pins are clipped all the way in. I had a similar issue with my i7-950 cause one of the pins wasn't all the way in.

These temps on load are way too high for stock settings!!Buy a decent air cooler,it shouldnt cost more than 20-30$.

I also had this happen with an i3. Check the push pins.
