For the price, Das.
I used a student discount courtesy of Ripster and received my Ultimate for 103 USD, free S&H. thumb.gif

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Voted Deck because I consider the backlight an huge value added, and because the white switches.

But the das is also a good choice, because the price and because is available with the iso layout.

I'd love to throw in a vote for the Deck for the clear switches, but I haven't tried browns.

Like a lot of these threads, the voting seems to depend on how much people value money, backlighting, or other factors.

Well the threadstarter shouldn't have included the price if he didn't want us to take the price into consideration

Was anyone able to get the DAS coupon code to work? It doesn't work for me.

Not sure about that code but email Das via their site if you, or someone you know is a student. They'll get the process rolling for a 24% student discount which is better than that 20% off code anyhow.

So that's the rule. haha. The point of my first post was meant to be about questioning the value of voting, not a criticism of voters.

I guess the OP screwed up by stating this; "Strictly looking at Brown and Clear switches for purpose of this thread.", wihich I took seriously. But then he went on to mention pricing.

I know better now.

I did not screw anything up. tongue.gif Thanks. Actually I set it up exactly how I wanted it. I am only qualifying clear and brown switches (keeping it to tactile options, but not blue as I already have that). Secondly I knew including the prices would effect how people felt about something and it's value for the price. I also go on to state I know there will be a lot of blind voting, esp. for the OCN Ducky keyboard. But, that I wanted data, experience, and knowledge in the actual posts. Thus it provides me how people feel about the boards with price as well as any informative posts regarding the actual product. Best of both worlds. People will post blindly anyway without knowing the full breadth of the post or the products in question and if that is the case then a poll certainly will not hurt. Nature of the beast I am afraid. Besides, people will give more opinions than fact or experience based answers if there is no clear straight or scientific answers.

And from what I can tell at this point with a vast amount of research, limited experience, youtube videos, and helpful insight none of these boards are bad. If you want illuminated go for the Deck. If you want either Ducky or DAS it seems like they exchange different features, but all around will do the same thing, and are of very similar quality. I don't know of any scientific and build quality reviews (beyond Manyak's), or reviews based on either company to give an edge to. However, some people don't like the glossy bezel on the DAS as it collects dust/dirt/oil more easily than a standard keyboard. I liken it to the Razer DeathAdder. So you should definitely realize cleaning it will be more often than normal. The only other difference at that point is price and DAS had a 20% off code and also feature support for students with a 25% discount (no stacking). So the normal price of $140 for Ducky and $135 for DAS is very close normally, but $103-$108 for the DAS on discount + free shipping. Thus is the extra difference worth the Ducky (nearly 50% more w/shipping)? Seems for those not liking a shiny surface yes. It is unfortunate though I don't see as many reviews for the Ducky as I do the DAS.

Lets keep this thread on track guys.

Have you considered Tenkeyless Leopolds? (sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere)
