Instead of SeaTools which is designed for Seagate drives, use the Western Digital Diagnostics program for a WD drive.

That drive has a one year warranty from HP. I don't see any warranty from Seagate, let alone a five year warranty. Remember it's an OEM drive, not a retail or system builder channel drive.

Seatools is for all hd's but I will dload the WD and run it through both.

Did you get your hd from the site in the other thread? I got a email from them saying my address isn't valid (which it doesn't show as valid but thats another story)

SO I hope its shipped tomorrow
Mine was shipped out today and is scheduled to arrive on Saturday. If it works out okay I'll probably order a second one.

I know that SeaTools is supposed to work with any drive, but I've always found it's best to use the actual manufacturer's tool than a competitors, or use something like GSmartControl. Hitachi Drive Fitness Test is the most universal though. It can handle any brand of drive even it that is the only drive in the system. I've seen SeaTools work on WD drives when there is at least on WD drive in the system, but not if the WD drive (or other non Seagate brand drive) is the only one connected to the system. Hitachi DFT is the only one that will for sure work with any drive. Plus, if a WDC drive does fail the test you would need to use the WDC Diagnostic Utility to generate a WDC error code for their RMA process. SeaTools wouldn't provide a code that WDC would be able to use.

How would you feel if you bought a "perfectly working" HDD on ebay, only for it to be constantly throwing errors, and eventually die on you? The only way it should be sold is AS IS with all information about the drives problems disclosed in the listing.

Your drive is in great shape. However, it is running slightly warm. Check and make sure you've got airflow over it and you don't have a dying intake fan on your case or something.

"Old age" and "Pre-fail" refer to the drive attribute. Old age means the attribute refers to something that will gradually degrade over time as the drive ages. Pre-fail means that when the attribute changes significantly, it's an indication of imminent failure.
