P67 Memory

Thread Starter
So slowly acquiring parts for my SB build and am looking hard at G.Skills memory. I got a deal on a Noctua cooler that I couldn't pass up so am guessing I should be looking at Snipers to avoid any potential clearance issues with big fancy head spreaders. In the 1600 range there are two different sticks. One rated at 1.5V and the other at 1.25V. Is there any reason that I should pay $5 more for the low voltage model? I mean, I know lower voltage = ultimately running cooler. Timings all appear to be the same... Also has anybody crammed Ripjaw X under a Noctua NH-D14?

Opinions? Am I over thinking this? Thanks!

do you want to OC your memory? sniper can only give you 1800@CL level OC, the height is fine with D14, it will be easier to put RAM on the board before your d14 installation, or you will need to remove p12 fan firstly.

I just got and installed that 8GB Gskill kit, the one with 1.25V. It booted at rated speed and voltage without a problem. I will try and overclock it somewhat this weekend. But so far it has been perfect. And it looks cool as well :-) This is on my Gigabyte UD4 P67...

I'd like the option to OC the memory. Sure landyzhu, when you said height is fine with D14 were you referring to the Snipers or the Ripjaw X? I am leaning more toward the Ripjaws if they have a better potential to be overclocked but have been worried about clearance. Noctua's site does say they are compatible but I imagine it would have to be an incredibly tight fit!
