Help with a build

Thread Starter
I know I've seen some REALLY nice deals on Newegg for combos but I can't figure out how to find any of them. Could anyone help me out?

I've got a budget of around $250, I need a CPU (Dual core is fine), motherboard (mATX), ram, CD/DVD drive, and a HDD. I've got all the rest that's needed.

If you navigate to any of the items you want (motherboard for example), there will be some options on the left hand side for "Combo Deals" - Motherbaord + Memory, Motherboard + VGA, etc.

As far as parts, I don't know much about mATX motherboards, but there seem to be plenty on there ~$50. You can get a dual core AMD CPU for ~$70. RAM shouldn't be more than $50, and you could probably get your hard drive for around that price, too. Grab one of the ~$20 OEM CD/DVD drives, and you're made in the shade!

AMD Athlon x2 245 2.9GHz for $59.99.

GIGABYTE mATX Motherboard - $59.99. Like I said, I don't know much about mATX boards, but it looks decent?

G.Skill Ripjaw RAM - $46.99. I've never used it, but people on here seem to like it!

Yeah people on this site seem to like that RAM and purchase it a lot... I don't. 1333 CL8 is never optimal; 1600 kits for the same price or lower price will perform better and overclock further.

Stick with the x2 245 or 250

Take an A880G+ motherboard for $70 even if you have to get it open box for $50 to fit budget (880G = full HD playback) or the 880G-E35 motherboard from MSI for $65/55 AR
And get this much better Kingston 1600Mhz RAM for a much cheaper $45/30 AR
As for hard drive... the F3 1TB is only $55 on Newegg right now
CD/DVD drive... $20 shipped Sony 24X

Should be at exactly $250 or within depending on what mobo you choose

+1 here, I pretty much agree with the motherboard choice.

How about a Core i3-2100 + H67?
Those are pretty powerful little chips.

I just noticed this section.
