Computer for Folding

Thread Starter
Hi,

I was interested in building a computer for the sole reason of folding.
What would be the most important parts for this computer?

Is this a worthwhile venture? Can a folding worthy computer be build without obscene amounts of money? What's the threshold for this and how much should I consider spending? or would sending a check to the Red Cross be a better use of my money?

Thanks,

Any and all help is appreciated.

I think the important question here is how much you're willing to invest. Without a budget it is a bit more difficult for people to make recommendations.

I think currently SB is probably your best bet in terms of efficiency. Since it is going to be a dedicated folding box, you can fold bigadv for around 40-50k PPD depending on your OC. It would take 3-5 higher end GPU to equal that kind of output.

I just put a 2600k folding rig together for less that $800.
