sli 560 over sli 470 ?

Thread Starter
i am think of going 2x560 and dumping my 470. is the sli 560 going to be beter then sli 470. for folden and gameing? i dont like the heat that the 470 puts out. so i was just going to fold on it. do the 560 over clock good and do thay put out less heat then the 470? i was thinking of geten the copper twinfrozer msi 560s.

are thay going to put out a gtx565?

A 560 is about 10% faster than a 470 stock, and runs cooler with less power draw.

The 470 however has a little extra VRAM (compared to the standard 1g 560 anyway), and is actually faster clock for clock, though 560s do consistently overclock higher.

As for a 565, I doubt we'll see anything like that. An OC 560 can reach and in some cases surpass a stock 570, so there's not really any room for another card between the two.

They are about on par with each other in all games. So it'd practically be pointless (performance-wise) going with the GTX 560 Ti if you're already on a GTX 470. Not a real "upgrade," more of a side-grade. That being said, you're better off grabbing a 2nd GTX 470. Would be the best, and cheapest route in your case. I plan on grabbing a 2nd GTX 470 myself, soon. GTX 470 SLI is pretty freakin fast.

what does your current 470 OC to? if you can game at 800mhz or more, i would just gamble on a good second 470 and hope it matched the OC of my first card. a 470 at 800mhz or more looks a lot like a stock 480. the stock 470 scores are at 607mhz, so 800+ is a legit 35% overclock.

Woah, 700 max? I feel bad for you, my water cooled 470 does 930 core, and the evga one I just got used will do 873 on air (temp issues of course).

It's really up to you in what you'd like to do, it's your money after all. Kepler is coming out at the end of the year I believe.. Not that that really helps since they'll bring out high end cards first, but maybe check the fs section, I'd look at used 480s... I'm hitting 1219 vram usage in Dragon Age II, I can't do 1mb cards and the 2mb version from Palit is $280 not really worth it imo.
