out of curiousity.... why a 460?

Couple issues with SLi on the GTS 450, first one that comes to mind is that cooling them off with any kind of OC is going to be a priority... no gts 450 that I have ever seen comes with vrm cooling, and most the stock heatsinks sit above the vrms and make em nice n' toasty (crashy)

I have also found them to be fiddly with certain setups and different games, especially openGL, and products like furmark... but thats SLi in general.

The price is right, so theres a plus there.

All things considered equal (owning and running 2 top end 450's atm) would always suggest a single robust card rather than 2 weaker cards in SLi, unless the price just could not be beat. The card scales well, but at much beyond 1080p its pretty hopeless when it comes to maxing out settings.

If your into tweaking and piddling with settings and profiles... they are fun, if you want something more straight forward... well... you know the answer. wink.gif

Get a 550ti and use the 450 for physx until you can get rid of it (or not).

The GTS 450 and GTX 550 Ti are both pretty terrible to begin with.
  • GTX 550 Ti is 28% faster than a GTS 450
  • GTX 460 768MB is 43% faster than a GTS 450
  • GTX 460 1GB is 60% faster than a GTS 450
  • GTX 470 is 88% faster than a GTS 450
  • GTS 450 SLI is 90% faster than a GTS 450
  • GTX 560 Ti is 110% faster than a GTS 450
  • GTX 480 is 136% faster than a GTS 450
  • GTX 570 is 138% faster than a GTS 450
  • GTX 550 Ti SLI is 140% faster than a GTS 450 (no data to back this up, just an educated guess)
  • GTX 580 is 183% faster than a GTS 450

For 1080P gaming, I would go with a single GTX 560 Ti with an optional second later down the road if needed. If that's outside of your budget, I would get another GTS 450 for SLI.
