Trade my motorcycle for a D7000?

Thread Starter
Motorcycle's been in the garage on a trickle charger over the winter. I have yet to ride it. It is a Yamaha Virago (250) that I plan to use for commuting on-post at West Point (parking's a *****).

I have no pro or semipro camera now, but photography for me is becoming an obsession--and I am starting to be known locally and socially (within the Army and my network) for my work.

The bike is worth about 2,000-2,200.

Here's the camera deal (craigslist):

Nikon D7000 DSLR Camera, box, book, charger, warrany included
Take AMAZING HI-RES PICTURE OR FULL 1080P Videos
Nikon 50mm 1.8 Prime Lens MINT WITH BOX/ WARRANTY
Nikon 55-200 VR Lens MINT WITH BOX/ WARRANTY
Nikon 18-55 VR Lens MINT CONDITION
Twin ITTL Flash Setup with ring and double sync cords (Have 2 external flashes on ring)
4gb high speed HD SD Card
8gb high speed HD SD Card
ND filter, ND Grad Filter, CPL, UV, ETC (Carrying cases for all filters ) Bunch of other filters
nice Camera Backpack for everything to go in.
Cleaning cloth, white cards, etc

Trade for electronics, street bike, project car, high end gaming pc, quad, firearms, or anything else you might have just offer. or 1700obo

Is that deal too good to be true?

Thank you for your thoughts, suggestions, experience, and advice.

-Paul

To clarify:

Reviewing the ToS once again, the only term I am possibly violating is:

# Ask for price appraisals outside of the Appraisals forum. This is viewed as circumventing the forum's For Sale/Trade rules.

I am not asking for a price appraisal; I am soliciting opinions about the sanity of a move to that package (should I set my sights higher, for instance).

I know, I edited my post. I read the title and seen your rep and jumped to conclusion thinking you were trying to trade on here. My bad.

Hell yes. Camera > everything. But in all seriousness, I would put up with finding a parking spot. The irritation from that will be alleviated by your D7000.

The deal itself seems ok, though I would inquire about the accessories, especially the brands.

And AFAIK, Nikon does not transfer warranties, so that's probably BS (unless the seller's willing to honor the warranty for you).

Being an avid motorcycle rider, I would not get rid of my bike unless I had a replacement.

If you want a camera and can give up your commute options then go for it.

To be honest, that doesn't seem like that great of a deal.
D7000 - $1200
Nikon 55-200 VR - $225
Nikon 18-55mm VR - $200
Nikon 50mm f1.8 - $135

Thats $1760 for the stuff new giving you a warranty on the camera and lens. A nice case or backpack in a style that you would get to choose would be around $100 and the memory and other accessories maybe another $100. I don't think there is much savings here and since the seller doesn't list the brand of the accessories I doubt they are worth much. I think you would be better off buying everything new and picking exactly what you want.

BAM! Thank you--that's the type of analysis I was looking for.

Now--if someone had a 3dx to trade. . . =D

I'll hold onto the bike for now.
