2500k temps in IBT

Thread Starter
So I had my cpu oc'ed to 4.8ghz and when I ran this test the temperature rose to 85C at one point. Im running an H70 and never once saw temps rise past 61C during Prime95 testing.

Is this normal for the temps to get that high when running this test? What kinda temps are you guys getting?

Max safe temp I'd let my cpu reach is 70.

My i7 2600k @ 4.5 ghz reach barely 62 in occt for hours.

try to lower your voltage and check your stability.
85 is definately no good.

Well that's actually the thing is I ran Prime 95 for 12+hours @1.375VCore and never got higher than 61C.

Im new to the IBT so that is why I am curious as to the higher temps

IBT is a very drastic stress test.
You won't ever reach those temps while gaming.

I edited my first post. Never got hotter than 59c for me

IBT is much harder than other stress testers. It makes my CPU ~20* hotter than I ever see with OCCT or prime... And they're a good 10-15* hotter than the max in hard use (games, transcoding, unzipping). Don't worry about your IBT temps, your regular temps will be far lower than that.

Thanks Lost-boi for confirming that.
So should I continue putting more faith in Prime95 for stability testing and forget about this IBT thing or is something wrong with my cpu?

Edit - I see my answer already haha. Thanks guys!

IMHO I think IBT is overkill, if it passes 10/20 runs then your good to go, just run prime blend for 12hours after that.
