new antec ea-430d static/sizzling noise

Thread Starter
hi, I just bought a new Antec earthwatts 430w power supply (ea-430d) and it makes this weird static/clicking/sizzling noise, it's quiet but still noticeable especially when under load. The power supply seems to work fine but i'm just concerned about this noise, when my last power supply died it took the motherboard with it.
i'm not sure if this noise is normal or not since my old power supply was pretty quiet. I searched google but most of the posts i found were about a high pitched whining noise which isn't the case for me. is it alright if I continue using it i'm way behind on my work and it'tll be annoying if i have to send it back and wait another few days.

Is there a strange smell coming from it and/or are the rails fluctuating under load? Squeal is normal on some components but sizzling is not.

You could use a volt meter to check the rails. Could you add your system specs here. I want to make sure you aren't pushing the psu too hard.

I would download HWMonitor and make sure everything is getting the necessary power.

alright i'll try that as soon as i finish restoring some of my backup files. anyway I turned on one of my old pcs and listened to its power supply and it made a similar noise except you can't hear it unless you press your ear against the power supply, but in my new power supply its a lot louder.

It should say voltages near the top, under +12V, 5V, etc.
