PC will always be the best, but you don't need a high end PC anymore to enjoy the game the same, Crysis 2 has ended the need to have the fastest PC you can afford. Many of the games are being made with consoles in mind, mid-range PC or iMac can do the job now.
As for people online, I never use a mic, PC or console so people's voices doesn't affect me.
The in-game chat feature is sufficient. Don't know what you mean by cream of the crop, there are bastards everywhere.
Just saying that I don't need my current PC to enjoy todays PC games.
Meh, I'm not bothered by exclusivity anymore. It's up to the developer to bring a good experience that does the respective platform justice. From what I've heard, Bad Company 2 is a console port, yet if someone hadn't specifically told me that, I never would've guessed it; graphics are fantastic, and actually pushed further on the PC; controls aren't screwed up; etc. I hate beating the dead horse, but Crysis 2 screams console port to me, as a counter-example.
Battlefield 3 is coming along, easily my most anticipated title of 2010, and bringing bleeding edge tech to the PC, while still bringing an awesome experience to the consoles. I find that to be an example of proper development.

I will always be a fan of save points, especially limited ones a la Resident Evil.
I couldn't give up manual saves... as an example, Crysis/Warhead were fine, but Crysis 2 pissed me off at quite a few points in which I was tossed back a solid chunk of gameplay behind after dying.
