Yeah, it's as good as any other good FPS
But there's a lot of "gun and run" or at least there is in my game
Like I'd run through loads of enemy, so they chase me. And I'd bottleneck them So yeah, it's fun IMO

And that 2500k thing!
I built a rig for Crysis 2007, a E8500 and 8800GT! But it weren't good enough!
So then I got a GTX285, and a Q9650 @ 4GHz. But it weren't enough!
Next I bought a GTX480 to go with the Q9650. But it weren't enough!
So then I bought a Sandy Bridge MoBo and Chip for the GTX480
And now at last, I can play Crysis 2007 All V-High 2x AA very smooth
Oh, and this was at 3.8GHz stock turbo clocks for my chip!

And I really would go 2500k even if I had to wait for a GPU at Christmas
And I've done my own test with HT on and off for games! And off is as good as on!
So for the most part, the 2500k is as good as the 2600k
Plus, if you get an ASUS P67 MoBo! It can overclock it's self!
And that's what gave me 4.9GHz!
I didn't really mean that Extreme

The ASUS P67 bios

Anyway, good luck. And I hope what ever you get, your happy with it

It all comes down to budget, which you guys are ignoring. Gaming at 1080p with an i5 2500K and P67 (required for overclocking) board paired with a 5770 will have much worse FPS than a 955 and 870 motherboard paired with a 6950- for a specific amount of money (read: budget), the AMD mobo and proc are $150 cheaper, allowing you to get a better GPU, which is the important part of any gaming rig.

Yes, an i5 2500K with a 6950 is going to be faster than a 955 with a 6950. But it is also going to cost $100-200 more.

i would get a p67 board along with a i3 . or if you can get the i5 k version . i had a amd phenom 820 quad 2.8ghz with a gtx 460 . i could play bad company 2 maxed out and get 45-50 fps min . switche to the rig i have now it never get below 60fps. but i also encode videos wich the phenom was taking a long time to do reason why i upgraded . gaming wise it was fine encoding part was taking hellah long . doesnt matter wat u get as long as it does wat you want it to do . like my amd rig could play bc2 fine but wen i encode vids was taking long wich i hated . so in my case was gaining an extra 10-15fps worth the upgrade no . encoding wise amd rig about an hour rig i have now 20min was that worth the uprgrade hell yes .

ive been trying to say this the whole time... 2 many i5 2500K fanboys outt there, the gpu will give you the majority of your FPS, a 5770/6850 will not last you full graphics on games for 2-3years, a 6950 will... It is cheaper to upgrade a gpu later then it is a MB/CPu though. but if you get the good gpu now and say a $50 MB and like the athlon X2 or w/e it is (really cheap stuff) then you can save for a couple months and get the bulldozer platform which will be better then the sandy bridge.

A cpu only needs to be fast enough to push your gpu(s).

This will very depending on the game, but like all things you don't put a i5-2500k in a build with a 9800GT and there is no AMD chip I would SLI/CF with any decent cards.

You can either buy budget items and be stuck, or you can piece together a decent system over several months.

If you start your system with AMD then the level of gpu power you can add later is hindered more than if you went with a decent cpu to start with.

I also grow tried of people talking about Bulldozer like it's the second coming. Nobody knows how well its going to perform, all we know is AMD went out of their way to make it as cheap as possible to make the most profits they can while bottom feeding. (yes this is a fanboy remark that I don't agree with but anyone can say stupid baseless crap).

Just hit that Extreme Button and it re-boots and does test starting at 4.4GHz then 4.5GH then 4.6GHz and so on
And my 4.9 was stable. But the temps were too extreme for me
So I ran it again, and stopped at 4.6GHz with that 45x multi. And have since changed my bclk to 100, giving me 45x100=4.5GHz
Sorted
The chip idles at 25c at about 1v, and in games I get 50c the most at 1.3v ish.

So yeah, from stock to 4.9GHz all by its self

And as for being a Fanboy IDK about that
But i'd guess, my chip will pwn any of the non SB chips in this post

I'm just going to get 2500k. That way I will only have to upgrade the gpu in a couple years and forget about the cpu/mobo for a while. 200 dollars now is better then a whole build later.
