You do realize that the electrical shock is 100% normal in laptops and is actually you discharging built up static electricity into the computer's USB port right?

You are complaining about a non-issue, and a non-repeatable problem; you should be glad they gave you any kind of support.

I agree with you that the customer rep should never have promised an upgrade that couldn't be given, but I agree with Dell in that the price you paid originally should be based on your replacement. Just because they gave you an upgrade once, doesn't mean they should upgrade the upgrade. I've never heard of a company doing that actually.

so wait, you bought model A, they sent you a better model, then that one broke and now their sending you C, how does it compare to A?

honestly as long as the systems they sending you are not worse then A then their doing fine.

Ive had little issues with multiple dells throughout the years.

No they sent me laptop B which I've had for a year and bought a warranty for. They're basing the warranty I purchased for this laptop on the old system and messed up the service tag so it showed the specs of the old system. The manager I talked to earlier admitted it being an error on their end and are sending me a replacement inspiron since studio laptops aren't made anymore and he didn't know how they were sending me one before.

Also, a laptop shocking you when on battery isn't normal and he said this.

Also, the one they were trying to send me was worse than the original one, but were trying to justify it by saying the newer model number and 50gb larger HDD is better. Everything else was less.

Hold the presses... a shock by a laptop is normal?! I've never been shocked by one that I recall???

I'm sorry but still confused here. Story goes that you had a laptop A and was replaced by B. Later bought another laptop C and now you're trying to get that one replaced but they're going by the specs of A?

Sounds like what I went through with my M15X. Bought in Dec 2009 and went through 2 motherboards, 1 CPU, 2 260M GPUs, and 5 1920x1080 screens(tons of dead pixels). The best part was when I got to call India every other week and explain that they were idiots for sending refurbished screens since they all had dead pixels and it would be much easier to just send a new screen and save everyone time. After everything it only took them until October of 2010 to finally fix all the problems.

OP let me get this straight... you RMA'ed a laptop because it was giving you electric shocks, then the new laptop they sent you was also giving you shocks?

3 options:

a) you are either extremely unlucky,
b) whatever USB device you're using is messed up, not the laptops
c) you are ignorant to what static electricity is
