the problem is the dev's and the big companies of the market that only support the consoles and forget the PC cuz of the money they want to make, i think they should launch the games for consoles first, then with the money they win with the sales, devolop the controllers and engine to PC that would make a better game instead of a bad port -.-

Consoles have their place, I don't mind if they "hold us back". I don't expect or want people to switch to a pc for games. Consoles are better for family environments and such as well as easier for younger kids to use. People don't like having to buy new hardware(new console) so often they want their purchase to last.

I know this is a PC performance site and such but some people out there just want the bare minimum to play their games.

If you have seen the latest video of hawken, or perhaps intersteller marines. You dont need a High profile Studio and a 50 million budget to create game. I seriously. COD has been using the same engine code for how long now, where the hell do they blow all that money, its not on building a new engine, its not on improving the graphics, or creating new gameplay.

Kotick is bullish about the "truth" and tells it how it is - stomping all over the hopes of decent PC games.

The article is asking for devs to be honest, assuming that they are apologetic about giving PC gamers a second rate classification. Devs do want all their customers to have the best experience but due to budgetary and reality concerns, consoles must be given first priority to make the big bucks.

I'd say that DICE got a reality check when BC2, even with its DX11 extensions, was outed as a console game (not necessarily a port, but a game designed with consoles in mind.) I think that's a big reason why they felt the need to really push it with BF2. BF2 currently is looking like what Crysis was and that was a fully PC game.

The only genre that I couldn't see working on the current gen console is RTS, but all the other games could work on consoles. The difference is MS and Sony are paying developers or publishers to port it to their system. Vanquish as originally planned as multiplatform, but it become console exclusive. If the situation is the other way around, where Sega decided not to port it to PS3 or 360, you can bet MS or Sony will pay Sega to port the game to their consoles. This is why certain genre of game is dying out on PC. My original post's point was, there's really no way to prevent this as consumers, so if you like those games, you need a console.

If all the AAA developers left PC, I dont think the indie devs can fill the void. Even if you use outdated engines and tech, it still cost money to hire people to write a good story, design good gameplay, test the gameplay balance, music, and all the other stuff that makes a good game. Maybe because I'm not looking hard for it, but I haven't seen any indie game on PC that I'm interested in for a long time. The last game that I guess can be considered indie is Trine. That was 2 years ago.
