Xonar STX best budget headphone

Thread Starter
hey guys, i got my xonar stx like last week, i chose high end monitors over high end headphones for now. i plan on getting the Ultrasones 780 pretty soon, but in the mean time i need a headphone that'll do for now. I game quite a bit, my music preference is Electronic music [Progressive trance, DnB, dubstep] and hiphop. so i guess you can say i want bass. and something that'll sound lovely in my STX

my budget is 150

the ER6i won't suit their music tastes at all.

$150?

you might as well get something better than the HFI-780

i dont know much about eletronic specified headphones but audio technica ad700 are great for gaming, the bass is more controlled but lacking for bass heads. However due to their lack in bass, atleast some would say that, they have great sound stage. So they are known to be popular with fps gamers.

audio technica ath md50, are great all around headhones and does not have super high impedance. They have more bass characteristics and is more lively then ad700. Sound stage is good but not as wide as the ad700.

Sennheiser hd555 and hd 595. The hd555 are mod-able thus able to bring out more lively characteristics to make it sound simular to 595. As far as what they sound like, i forgot what people have said, but after mods they can be a very balance headphone .

Review over at headfi for portable headphones, so recon most headphones reviewed are catered to portability and low impedance, but that doesnt mean they can be used fro a great computer setup.
