New guy, simple question

Thread Starter
I have a Xigmatek S1284F on a Phenom II 955 running at 3.7GHz. The stock fan that comes with it is rated at a max of ~57cfm and leaves me with about 53c core temp at full load (Prime95). I was wondering if you guys think it would be worth it to upgrade to a better fan, like +150cfm or so?

Also, would my motherboard (MSI 870A-G54) be able to handle a better fan, one that pulls like 3 amps or so?

Thanks in advance.

150 cfm will sound like a jet engine, just so you know. But increased airflow over the surface area will produce more heat transfer to the fluid media, usually leading to lower temps of the heatsink.

I've got the Scythe Ultra Kaze as my exhaust at 133cfm, and let me tell you. It's LOUD.

But is it worth it? Your discretion. My i7 runs at 68C at full load. I wish I could have your temps...silly amd people

We have lower temps out of necessity

Relative to TJ max, your temps are fine.

If noise is not an issue(at load), you can go ahead with the upgrade. Your mobo should be fine as well.

Cool, thanks guys. Also, I don't care if that fan sounded like a 747! If I could stick my hand in that case and have it come out looking like the T-1000 from Terminator, It would be worth it. I think I'll go for, thanks again
