Asus Maximus III Gene can't post

I was upgrading water cooling system to my rig. Today after I put everything back, strange thing happened. When I plug the 8 pin cpu power cord and start the system, every other second it will restart itself. Fan will spin within the time. If I unplug the 8 pin cpu cord while leave the motherboard power cord plugged in, the system can start(I mean fan spins, led light on).

I have tried clearing CMOS, using stock intel cooler and my backup 9500GT card, moving motherboard outside of the case etc. It seems it's either the PSU or the motherboard(in my rig). What do you guys think? Thanks.

BTW, the cpu led light on the Asus board is red for both way I described here.

Hope you got access to some spare/borrowable parts man, that's really the only way this dilemma might be solved. Time to start looking for another board, or psu and start doing some swappin'

Ugh, its a tough call man, you suuuure you can't rummage up an old psu from someone, it absolutely sucks playing rma hopscotch with multiple parts =/ I haven't dealt with an ASUS rma before, and only have once with OCZ, and that was years ago with DDR1 ram >< Maybe a friend/family member you know would let you try the psu on one of their pcs.

Try the Mem OK button. If that doesnt work take it out of the case and if you still have the stock intel heatsink remove the block and try that.

Got a psu from friend and the same problem persists. It should be motherboard. Thanks for the info and rep+!.
