Fitting/Barb Question

Thread Starter
I have 1/2" ID X 3/4" OD barbs. Am I only supposed to use 1/2" ID X 3/4" OD tubing?

I have recently seen someone building a water cooling system with 1/2ID" Barbs and he said he was getting 7/16" ID X 5/8" OD tubing, and no one corrected him. Should I have picked up 7/16" ID X 5/8" OD tubing instead of 1/2" ID X 3/4" OD tubing?

Obviously I wan't the best flow rates I can have but correct me if I am wrong. 7/16" is smaller than 3/4". So is 5/8. No idea why someone would select that tubing then.

Am I right here?

Barbs only have and OD, compressions have OD and ID. 7/16"ths is such a tight fit over 1/2" that you don't need barbs and you can leave it be, like I have.

You can have 1/2ID and 3/4OD over 1/2OD barbs and just use clamps.
