OP said he was looking at an i5-2500k with an ASUS P8P67. He also said that the 1000$ didn't include case and peripherals, only the inner components. Then comes the fact that IF he really lives in australia, the builds you suggested are likely to be a couple hundreds over his budget because well... hardware is very pricey down there. Just look at the site I used and check for GPUs or CPUs.

Sure he could go for an AMD quadcore and pay less but that is not what he asked for in the first place.

Yes guys, forgot to mention I AM from AUS and Pccasegear.com is pretty much my best friend at the moment since we dont have much choice over here and that site's price are pretty decent over all. So what Schaezar gave me was pretty decent i guess.

Anyway thanks guys for all the suggestions and ill probably tweak it around before i tell my friend the final price.
