Thread Starter
Hey guys

Ok to start off, I AM on the red side so to speak Planning to upgrade soon and found out that Sapphire HD 6950 1Gb fits my requirements and my budget just fine. Now the thing is the MSI GTX 560 twin frozr 2 OC has the exact same price and I blv that can be oced much better.. So which one wud perform better? msi full oc vs sapphire full oc?

First of all I haven't got the best impression of GTX 560s (haters gonna hate) and I can only recommend the HD6950s (you could shader unlock it while you're at it).

Good luck mate!

Hi, I too had to make this decision and I went with the GTX 560 because I've never tried Nvidia before. So far it's great, runs Crysis 2, Dragon age 2, Just cause 2 and Assassin's creed brotherhood maxed out with no lag. The 6950 beats it in most benchmarks so it probably performs slightly a bit faster, anyways I am glad with my choice

As for overclocking I can't get it higher than 980mhz stable but maybe it's just me, lots of people get it to 1ghz. I leave it at stock OC which is 882mhz cuz I don't feel the need for more.

The 6950 1GB performs much better than the 560. Check out the benches on Anandech.

I went with the 6950 1GB and have absolutely no regrets. Even had a very stable OC of 1000 / 1450 @ 1.2v (@ 80-85c). I just prefer my cards to run under 70c so I dropped it down to 950 / 1400 @ 1.17v and all is good.

I'm gonna have to say the 6950. Did the research. Benchies are great, but i also bought one for my GF and it performs like a beast, and it's not even OC-ed YET. Playing games on max. Crysis 2, Aion, Dead Space 2.

The 6950 is faster at stock (~8%) and it will still have a chance to unlock even if the dual bios switch isn't there (it just means if you mess up you'll have to blind flash it back or use another card in the main slot).

The 1GB 6950s overclock very well also (better than the 2GB ones) because they use the newer PCB design. They may still unlock though but don't put your hopes on it. They both should overclock the same on the core (in %) but the memory on the 6950 generally overclocks a lot higher and should give you even more performance.

Basically I say the 6950.

Yeah... no.

It's also more over-clockable. Basically, get the Radeon HD 6950. Overall, it's better.

The drivers he used were Catalyst 11.1 which are fairly old now. 11.4 gives a lot more performance. But the 560 is between the 6870 and 6950.
