Will a 6990 fit in a cm690II?

Thread Starter
I'm hopefully getting a 6990, but at the moment I live away from my desktop. Is anyone able to tell me whether a 6990 will fit in a cm690II without removing the hd caddy?

Also, will it be bottlenecked by an i7 920 @ 4ghz and 6gb of 1500mhz RAM?

Cheers

The length of the 6990 is about 13.5" long (343mm's).
The CM69 II Advanced can fit cards up to 12" long (305mm's).
So no, it will not fit without removing the HDD cage.

What mbudden said.

You'll need to remove the HDD cage to fit it.

As of Bottleneck, I am quite sure there won't be any at anything above 4Ghz on your i7, so I wouldn't worry

HD6990 measures ~12'' (305mm).
Eg link: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1566/2/
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/201...-6990-review/1

CM site lists CM690 II supporting up to 304mm. So, it is a very very tight fit, even if possible. Additionally, HD6990 exhausts its hot air bi-directional (via the front and via the rear). So, having its front touching the HDD cage is not a desirable situation.

Removing the hd cage is a no go as my disks are in there... So... New case perhaps?

I'm looking for something sleek, subtle and with good cooking like a lIan li... budget is £150. Suggestions?

My bad, yes. I went back and checked. It's exactly 12" long.

Silverstone Raven RV02B-EW.

Great case for the price, I am in love with it, it's a beast in air cooling and it will keep your 6990 under good temps

Fitting all 4 requirements, I suggest:-
Corsair 650D £140
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/corsa...window-w-o-psu

Corsair 600T £130-140
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/corsa...esh-side-panel
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/corsa...g-case-w-o-psu

They can fit a 6990 with no problem.

There is a silver TJ07 on eBay for £150, it's an amazing case (you used to own one, if I remember), and looks mint condition.

Also, you better have at least 3" 1080P screens if you are considering the 6990.

The Raven doesn't look nice at all, the fractal I remember hearing reports of poor cooling... The corsair 650... Might be perfect. A good air cooling case?
