Perhaps you can link us to some of your other reviews?..

Anyways, this card isn't bad but to most who would consider buying this (gamers mostly, this isn't an enthusiasts' card) would want to spend less and 2x460s are cheaper. In fact for $230 you can grab a pair of used GTX 470s or even some 6870s on a deal (rebates etc) and they will obviously thrash this card. Now there are those who only have 1 PCI-e connector on their motherboard and they would be in trouble and this would be a good setup for them but then most of the time the rest of their setup won't be too high-end either (i7 for example) and they will still have their other components bottleneck. This card is also aimed at surround users and while a single GTX 580 can't do 3 screens, this card won't perform all too well either as it will lack the GPU power and vram so in the end for surround users this is still not the best option and there is no way to upgrade upon this (add a third or fourth card).

Obviously this card is "tailored" but it's still cheaper to produce 2 GTX 460s than it is this. Obviously you are also paying for EVGA's "excellent" service but aside from that the main reason why this is priced so much (over a pair of 460s) is because there is nothing else to compete with this. I reckon if Galaxy's dual-GTX 460 card was released then the price may be lower due to competition. Had EVGA gone with a pair of GTX 560s this would have been a nice card but the price would have been higher. I think that instead they should have just done GTX 470x2. They could have used cherry picked cores and done a good job or at least add another 2GB of vram to this card.

Well personally I am not a fan of EVGA or their supposed customer service.

In 2007 a friend of mine decided to (without speaking with me first !) rush out and buy a 790i ultra SLI.

The ram did not report correctly (in size) and it was awash with BSODS. He phoned, and phoned, and phoned. They constantly had him mess around in the bios but to no avail. He never did get around to buying GPUs for it.

Turns out (just out of warranty, quelle surprise !) that the board was an ill fated Rev A. We found this out when attempting in vain to flash the bios to a newer one (hoping it would make it more than a $450 brick) but again, no dice. The bios continually said "Serial numbers do not match, bios reverted".

It's sitting in a box.

They also pull all sorts of tricks with their warranty (classic example being that if you buy from a retailer you can only register for a 3 year warranty as opposed to their advertised ten year) and so on. Basically if you don't buy directly from them you have to buy the extra 7 years and it doesn't come cheap. I would see this as some sort of plan to take sales on soley themselves.

I may write a few reviews for here. However, usually most of my reviews are not made public as they are very VERY harsh. They usually get deleted or don't pass approval

Too hot for TV I believe is the wording. The review I wrote of NFS : Shift (I believe I titled the review - NFS - ***** - straight from the corporation's ar$e) was never aired. I don't think EA would have liked being called Electronic Farts too much.

Ed. I seem to have missed my handywork

Here is a review of the NH-D14 I wrote for the AMD platform (as no one else could be bothered to)

And one of the Bitfenix Survivor.

I agree, EVGA support in the UK/EU is pretty average and I think a lifetime warranty on GPUs doesn't matter since you'll never own them for too long and only the original owner can send it in for warranty and they may still reject it for whatever reason. Add to that their ridiculous pricing (in the UK).

I'd still love to get my hands on this card but i don't think it is coming to the UK.

off topic but I don't have much time to read your reviews yet, are you as whiny as Tom?

And welcome to OCN. =)

[Rant]
Okay, so how many of us are going to spend $300+ to max out Black Ops?

(crickets chirp, and they chirp A LOT)

...yeah, just making sure.

If you couldve done Quad SLI then this wouldve had more of a selling point, but as of now its basically just a card for folders lol

I don't frequent that site any more now. I tend to move around a lot.

It's the first game they used to benchmark with. That's how.

Well it doesn't mean people will buy this card to run only Black Ops (which isn't the best looking game anyway ).

I don't get why some reviewers test Black Ops, waste of time when they could have done Metro 2033 instead.
