Yes I've moved on from ubuntu long ago, but what ubuntu did yesterday, other distros will do tommorow, regardless of whether it's a good idea or not, and I do not want this form of KDE or XFCE. Touch them and I will move to blackbox of fluxbox!!!!!!!!!!!

You know, it has been so long since I was in High School that I forgot about these large dolphins. Seeing that spear on the end of its head makes me believe that at some time in the past there were Unicorns.

Just fill that time with all the patches, updates, and fixes that the OS needs. It seems like lucid just came out, and now they're already on 11. Lucid had a buggy, glitchy, picky interface. At least that is the experience that I had with it and its why I quit using it. You would click things and nothing would ever happen. Or, the wrong thing would happen. Things like that are why I think they should stick with one version for longer. I want so bad to be able to kick the paid OS's forever. Just my .02

I like your sig rig and its name LOL
That is a really good Idea. Get one version with all the bugs out and then Mess it all up.. and Thanks for the compliment.

What amazes me is the so many different flavors of Linux there are. Its like Baskin Robbins.. BTW.. Are they still around.. 31 Flavors.. YUM!!!

I think I die inside every time someone talks about a feature that macs or windows have and they're like "this new thing is awesome" when all Linux users are like "we had that at least a year ago".

GL with tessellation before DX is another thing that always gets me.

If every thing was open source there would be no piracy

^^^^that's what the world needs to do^^^^^
instead we sue each other, Cap innovation, and go backwards. All over corporate greed. Eventually Social Darwinism will push out Proprietary BS and make room for Open Source. GOOGLE Please keep this in mind.

This is all just MY OPINION and I am sorry If I offend you.

looks good, doesn't really matter, they are all VERY customizable.

Mint is a good way to make the transition from windows people say.

Personally I think Ubuntu and Mint have the least amount of driver compatibility issues.

I'm no Expert in Linux, I started with Ubuntu 9.04-9.10 and have been happy with Ubuntu ever since.

If you do go Ubuntu, use 10.10 LTS
http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download

Just a tip I believe you need a 64bit version for VM's. might want to keep that in mind.

NO!!!

The GNOME must die and all who work with him.

If you like an Apple-ish look GNOME.
If you like an windows-ish look KDE.

PS:KDE does the cube too.

Personaly I think the cube is a little cheesy but I will say It does hook people in and that is a good thing

Isn't Unity not GNOME?

And that is why I don't spend too much time with linux or put it on other people's machines. This is actually very important, and there are many reasons that I won't go into right now. Notice how it took that girl who so erroneously compares it to windows and mac saying "you can beat the pants off" blah blah blah. Er, no, you can't. Not like that anyway. See the thing to notice there, is that it took her about 57 steps to get that thing to do its thing. Windows or mac would have been two or three clicks tops.

A big problem that linux has that I hope to see resolved. "Dependency hell". There we go, that's what I'm looking for. Linux still suffers from what has always killed it. Dependency hell.
