Frostbite destruction optimization requires i7, otherwise it will bottleneck the cpu

I think it maybe Drivers. I'm using the current ones from nVidia but there is a Beta. I'll give them a try later.

This is my thought too. My fan is always at 40% until it gets above 65 then it speeds up.

Might want to minimize game window and see if it coincides with Afterburner's GPU usage graphs or the fan speed one.

Edit: I do realize we're talking about an Nvidia one here but it's what made me think of it.

That's why I'm running a 3.5ghz i5 and getting a steady 60 FPS, right? And thousands of others are running 3-4ghz Q9550s and getting the same?

It has nothing to do with drivers. It's v-sync. We've established that. Once we get to ~97 fps, I'm going to wager it's CPU limited. (For reference, a ~5ghz 2500k will only get 110-120 FPS) And if anyone refers to 97fps as being a "CPU bottleneck" a kitten will die.

I am wondering if this truly is fan speed that's being reported though.

It is horrible for a 590, you do realise he should be getting around 130 minimum? (Yes completely maxed) by your thinking... you might aswell go with some bad card and get 60 fps and drop down to 30 fps every 5 sec right? Who the hell buys a 590 and goes "oh well, thats good" when they see 60 fps? lmao... yes 90 is bad too, this is 590 >.> way more than 90 FPS if set the right way (obviously something is really wrong with his PC) also that CPU of yours is just zz, get sandy already so it feeds ur 590

If you wanna stick to your CPU. get some good aircoller or rasa 360 kit and go 4.2 ghz

I am not trying to offend you or whatever, but we are all here (OVERCLOCK.net) to push our system to their limits... get the best you can out of that 590.. not act like MAC users and be "okay" with anything you get, that 590.. is a beast and it can do way more.

No, he shouldn't. His 3.2ghz cpu can't do "130 minimum" and I'd like to see evidence that we should expect "130fps" from a 590 to begin with.

Yeah theres no way for you to know what to expect from such card when you are only using a 460, so why bother explaining >.> people know how good a 590 can run with good clocked i7, /sigh

Also I said that he should overclock his CPU to 4.2, then he will see the results.. right now this card is a total waste
