MSI is pleased to announce its mainboard compatibility with future AM3+ multi-core processors. AMD’s brand new AM3+ multi-core processors are based on AMD’s Bulldozer technology and feature up to eight cores and large amounts of cache memory. With MSI’s AMD 800 series mainboards with AM3+ CPU support everyone can enjoy the benefits of the new 32nm processors with 2nd generation Turbo Core technology.

MSI’s AMD 800 series mainboards offer the easiest upgrade trajectory for AMD’s future AM3+ CPUs. By offering compatibility with a simple BIOS upgrade end-users are guaranteed future compatibility on their current mainboard. This allows end-users to start with a simple dual-core processor today and scale up to an eight core (octa-core) processor when the higher performance is required by todays and future games and applications.

AM3+ Compatible Mainboards

880GMA-E55 870A-G46

Great news, but I have a Gigabyte mobo.

MSI officially announced its AMD AM3 mainboards and the corresponding BIOS versions with full compatibility with all AMD AM3+ multi-core processors.

By upgrading the BIOS with a few simple steps, users can enjoy the powerful performance of AMD AM3+ multi-core processors without extra expenses. The brand new AMD AM3+ multi-core processors have more cores and larger L3 cache memory capacity. Also, the built-in 2nd generation Turbo Core technology also boosts the performance of the new AMD AM3+ multi-core processors. Along with the latest 32nm process which significantly enhances the electrical specifications, AMD AM3+ multi-core processors will absolutely be the next-generation indicator of performance.

In addition to upgrading all BIOS on the existing AM3 mainboards supporting AMD AM3+ multi-core processors before shipping to correspond to the upcoming AMD AM3+ processors, MSI will post the BIOS of corresponding mainboards with support for the new AMD AM3+ processors for consumers to upgrade their MSI AM3 mainboards in order to meet their demands for system upgrade and experiencing the powerful performance of the next-generation AMD processors.

This leaves no doubt AM3 boards do work with Bulldozer.cheers.gif

Are ANY of those boards better than 4+2 phase? Msi is the worst offender with nickel and dime parts when I would pay dollars for a proper setup.

With msi and Asus down, I guess bulldozer will work with am3 after all.

This just makes me think bad of AMD for trying to trick people into thinking BD wouldn't work in older boards.

JF-AMD.. SHAME ON YOU!

Don't bring him into this, he was already upset with the OCN community and with good reason.

He said AMD wouldn't support AM3+ in an AM3 socket, and I don't think that stance has changed. This is MSI (and Asus apparently) and if they're already been putting AM3+ sockets on their boards(or are willing to support the old ones) .. it's out of AMDs hands.

Yes, a lot of people went to SB only because they were told they would have to get a new mobo to work with BD and thought, heck why wait 4-6 months Ill just get A SB cpu and mobo combo now. If they woulda known that their boards might support BD they probably woulda just waited.

Then all of the mentioned motherboards actually have an am3+ socket with am3 written on it?

Don't hate on AMD, they said they don't support bulldozer on AM3+, but that doesn't mean the manufacturers can't, seeing as the possibility is definately there ..
