PWM, already has a nice performing top
i looked in to that pump its nice but in the end im going for MCP35x

Isn't the DDC/Laing 3.25 basically the same thing as a MCP355?

EDIT: Per Chunky_Chimp over here, the MCP355 is a DDC/Laing 3.2, not a 3.25.

EDIT2: More info. I'm cool with the stronger magnets and all, but I really like not having two connectors.

well MCP35x not MCP355, not the same
MCP35x has a custome top and u can control it though your motherborads 4pin since it has PWM.

laing 3.25 = MCP35x, but testes show the MCP35x little more performance and with added PWM
hope this helps

Why not just run the 355 w/ top? Two connectors, solid performance... its what I run in meh sig rig... so obviously I won't be complaining, just mount the thing right the first time and mind that these pumps do make a little heat.

redhell: charliehorse55 says they're not exactly the same but in any case, the difference isn't that big. I plan to use a fan controller that may also display pump speeds, not sure yet. But I didn't know the MCP35X existed as a product, I thought you meant MCP35*. I don't know how interested I am in PWM in a pump. With fans I'm very leery, with a pump...well...what benefit would I get with my X58 SLI?

Soggysilicon: When I was shopping around for a pump about a year ago, I decided to go with the DDC/Laing 3.25 because of the extra juice and better construction. If other pumps have improved in that time I'm not averse to trying them.

To my knowledge the impeller is a different color, maybe its a little difference not sure, and it draws a little more current... but I dunno one way or the other if its all that different... in fact I wanna say that someone was selling the impellers and that one could just mod the thing over to it. I have no idea about what gains you get one way or the other... changing the top to the xspc rev 2 dramatically changes how the pump loads anyways... if theres a difference beyond that with the top in play, I suspect its marginal... that all said, theres some good deals on the older pumps, but ya never know. The money ya save could always turn into a better mounting setup, or a fill port fitting mod for the top.

Now that I am looking at it, never mind hehe, totally different tops we are looking at... but the pump comment is still sound.

MCP350 - Laing DDC 3.1
MCP355 - Laing DDC 3.2
MCP35X - Laing DDC 3.25 Motor - but a custom PCB built by swiftech to support PWM

The custom PCB also automatically limits the RPM on the motor as you reduce the amount of restriction on the pump so that it doesn't burn out.

I'd get the 35X, if just for the safegard against pump burnout. (Add in the increase in power, threaded fittings and PWM support and it's a no brainer)
