ahhh i seee yeah , with HT off more than likely you will hit the 5ghz with sub 1.5v
Although why buy a 2600k if you just dont plan on using it to its full potential? Maybe a 2500k would have been a better choice?

I was actually debating that here

the general consensus was that the i7-2600K would yield better overclocking results.. I think

You guys do know that the Gigabye UD4/5/7 boards are massively improved with the B3 versions and the latest beta bioses compared to the ones you may have tested before, right? I'm actually stable at 5 ghz on my 2600k at lower than 1.4v load if I disable HT....

And I just convinced someone on XS to update to the latest beta bios for the UD5, and he updated, left the computer off 8 hours, came back home...and presto....NO boot loops....saved settings fired right up. He was floord, since he was really pissed at the boot loop problems from earlier Bioses (like F1/F2 for B3, and the B2 betas)

S3 sleep with pll override may be next on the chopping block. If Gigabyte fixes this faster than Asus, there's gonna be some major mud flinging...

Falkentyne! I'm actually partial to the UEFI Bios (I'm lame I know), and the Asus board should be on par with the Gigabyte in OC'ing no? Also the Sabertooth's shield is begging to be modded with a type of carbon fiber vinyl, it will go perfectly with my setup.

Oh would you also be able to let me know what you think of my build? I'm still a bit unsure of the OCZ PSUs, I don't know how well they do:

I know nothing about OCZ's power supplies. PC power and cooling makes some nice single rail products (no worrying about blowing up something by putting too many amps on a single rail--this actually happened to someone here with a GTX590).

Everything else looks fine but I'm still in the stone age. No SSD for me...basic 1333 mhz gskill ram...

BTW did you know me from somewhere? Your first word took me off guard.
And there have been "some" reports that the Sabertooth was clocking around 100 mhz less than the other Asus boards. Take that with a grain of salt, since I've heard that claim from virtually every OTHER board too, sometime B2 to B3, sometimes just by updating a BIOS... Just saw someone on XS with 1.65v RAM saying that his MSI board clocks his 2600k over 300 mhz faster than a UD7 ! (Clear ram compatiblity issue here...or maybe a defective board, who knows...)

Oh no, I'm just thankful for the information you helped me out with in this thread.

I've also been following your posts around on the board, you can be very knowledgeable on procs x]

Hey, just to update you guys. The problem is not that the whole heatsink is moving, the problem is that only the top, green, portion is moving. I don't know if that's what you had in mind when you tested yours. In any case, it doesn't seem to affect anything as I've been running stable for a few days now.
