Should I cancel my GTX580 order? 460 Sli vs 580 - Page 2

Is there really any benefit of a single card vs SLi (except heat, power..)? I really only play mainstream new release games so I don't think any games wouldn't support SLi.
SLI is pretty amazing as far as getting more for your $. The 560s would have an extra cost NEW, but if you bought them both open box (~185 on Newegg), the cost gap bridges quite a bit, on top of the performance of the SLI 560's outweighing your 580.

Most people go 580 for the sole reason of having the option to SLI them in the future when prices go down or when money allows, but if you don't plan to do that, you should cut to the chase and take the SLI 560 route for better performance/dollar.

Open box is hard to beat, but in this case you can get similarly amazing deals on Open Box 560s and come out ahead

Yeah but no $25 coupon, and they cancel the $20 credit if I return or cancel, I'm pretty sure.

I am sure they would credit you the $25 coupon if you talk to a rep and buy within a reasonable time frame (1 week, I would say). Newegg support wins when it comes to helping you out with missed promos and sales.

As far as the $20 credit, not sure how those work.

There is so much split opinion on this topic!

well not to make things harder, but I have been looking into the 500 series and would like to bring up that the 480 is almost the same card. I know some want the biggest baddest thing, but the only diff. between the 480 and 580 is the cooler which is much better! but as you plan to water cool no problems there, and the 480 cuda cores on the 480 and 512 on the 580 ( I think those are right ) the power problem that people were saying about the 480 still is a problem on the 580 once you overclock!

just a thought and still two 480's in sli benches almost the same as the 580's almost to the point in real world gaming you would not notice any diff.

And the 480 water blocks even fit on the 580's (reference) sorry if I made things harder

If you ordered yesterday it is probably too late to cancel anyway isn't it?

Stick with the GTX 580.
Its a very good GPU.

It can easily play at 1200P/1600P and basically run all games maxed or very, very close.
GTX 560Ti's can struggle some at high resolutions.

Stick w/ the 580. The cooler on that card is fantastic, and will cool it better while being quieter. I don't think you'll need to water cool it w/ that cooler anyways, saving yourself some more bucks.

I love my GTX 580, going to get another soon to SLI, But thats a great card you got for the price. The only Thing that would worry me is the 90 day warranty, but i bought asus mobo open box from Newegg once before and i got full 3 years on it... P6T Mobo but GPU department might be different. Maybe i was just lucky, who knows. Which ever way you chose to go, i know you'll will be happy
