Noctua NH-D14 ok with Corsair Vengeance RAM & HAF 932?

Thread Starter
Will Corsair Vengeance RAM fit under the Noctua NH-D14? Vengeance sure is some tall stuff...

I'll be using these with an i5-2500k and P8P67 PRO in an HAF 932. This is a massive case, but it does have a 230x30mm side fan, and I guess I am also wondering if the Noctua will fit ok there.

I bought a CM Hyper 212+, but I got sick of waiting for my motherboard to arrive so I slapped it on my sig rig, and happily gained a couple hundred MHz.

Any help is appreciated!

Measure your RAM. Ripjaws RAM runs from 40mm (middle teeth) to 44mm (outer teeth). Here's the D14 and Ripjaws:

Noctua_NH-D14_with_G_Skill_Ripjaws.png

Note that I am using Megahalems clips in this shot. Noctua clips give you greater clearance.

Thanks. Vengeance is about 52.5mm in height, so I guess I am out of luck here.

Well, I think I just solved my problem:

corsairvegeancenoheatsp.jpg

I've never had to take these off of any other RAM I had before, but I figured I'd give it a shot. If things get too hot overclocking I'll just use some other heatspreaders/RAMsinks. Vengeance got great reviews and I got them for a great price, so I wanted to try them out even though the heatspreaders are so damn tall.

Anyway, yeah I think it's time to hop on over to TigerDirect.com and pick up that NH-D14! The CM Hyper 212+ stays in my old system.

hey,
i was thinking of getting the noctua nh-d14 and the corsair RAM aswell...
since they dont fit i was thinking of just removing the heatspreaders.

i was just wondering if you have run into any problems with the temperatrure of the RAM so far?
have you overclocked them aswell??

Corsair makes low profile versions with the same specs minus the large fins. It'd still be interesting to find out how things work out with no heatspreaders.

RAM actually don't really need heatspreaders.. So it's fine without them. But they look ugly.

ever saw memory sticks in a server rack that are using heatspreaders? no! cause its not necessary at all.
the overall airflow is totally enough to move the "warm" air coming from the rams.

the tall heatspreaders are just eyecandy, marketing strategy by adding a word like "sniper" dont make them special.
the only reason to buy such rams are ethusiasts which are pushing them to 1.8 V or more

so pull them off and enjoy your D14
