with promo code $119.99 down from $144 i think it said. still to much for me.
Yeah,i saw that one,it's a really good deal for a SSD. For only $119 you get SATA III.
My SATA II SSD drive cost about the same (on sale) when I purchased it less than a month ago.

The only one that isn't free, is AIDA 64 Extreme, which is just a trial version.
I don't bench much either,so i'm sure there are better programs out there that are free.

However, I would also try to find better air cooling.

However, overclocking is not for impatient people. It also requires a person to be very comfortable tinkering with their computer (so you absolutely cannot be afraid to open up your computer, take it completely apart, and then put it back together again).

To be honest, I don't benchmark at all. I just go by real-world performance: my system is faster than I need it to be, so I'm happy.
Since I am on air cooling I wasn't going to get to crazy and I was going to watch temps close but its not like I am dealing with real expensive equip over here either lol! Is there a chat area here or is it all forum based? I am guessing maybe this off topic while very helpful to me has got a bit off track lol

Since I bought the asus p7p55 and it doesn't have the sata III would it not work with that board or could you still plug into the sata and it just wont be as fast?

There used to be a chat, but it was too much like /b/ and other cesspools of filth on the internet.

Besides, this thread is being very useful for both you and anyone who may stumble across it.

I also wanted to try to overclock the memory a bit but didn't see how to do just that, or don't know how to yet I should say. I am going to spend a day reading up in that forum to try to figure that one out

Well no. It was just a chat. The intention was to provide a place for live discussion regarding all things in the pursuit of performance. It was intended to be a place where people could either ask quick questions, or go receive live one on one help right here on OCN. It's not like OCN would have made a minimum Rep requirement to use the chat because that would be like having a minimum Rep requirement to post in something like Intel - General (or Hard Drives & Storage).

Instead, it ended up being just another horrible internet chat where it was no better than /b/.

Oh yeah, you just won't get the full SATA III 6GB/s if you were to put SSD's into a RAID.
Do you plan to use the SSD just for the OS,and two additional HDD's for storage?

To be honest the few questions I have posted up in different threads so far have been answered pretty fast, close to live chat times. I am sure I will have plenty of other questions once I get the rest of the parts I need to do my new build (well not new persay but new to me).

I did buy a pretty nice psu on the egg the other day and put it in my current pc. I assume it will be plenty for me for awhile and it will work in a new one as well (or I assumed it would when I bought it).

IF and thats a big if yes thats how I was going to do it. I was going to just run the ssd with what I could and then everything else of a sata WD 7200 type drive or two. But after seeing new prices I am thinking there are other things I need to get first. I seen some cheaper ssd for sale but seems like they might not be very good which is why they were cheap lol! With that in mind it might be awhile before I get the ssd. I kind of learned that during this whole thread process lol!
