I've found that setting up an OS and my software on a solid state drive is very easy because I don't have to do any thinking: it's all done for me in the form of a couple of guides.

Since he asked if it will open in a web window, I think he is wondering if it's kinda like a Flash app or something like that. So, that's why I answered him the way I did.

Yes, you are correct i completely missed that part. There is a download button there he will have to click to download it. Just click that and it will download to your pc and install it. Then click the shortcut and run it. Thanks for the catch "TwoCables".

Nah, I told him everything and even provided a direct link to the file. I referenced my post so that you wouldn't spend your valuable time typing up your own instructions. redface.gif

I should have been clearer about my intentions for referencing it.

Well, the rules (Terms of Service) were presented to you when you registered here on OCN. You might remember it because you clicked something that said you have read them and that you agree to obey them. wink.gif

However, they're also at the bottom of every single page:

Terms of Service / Forum Rules

Plus, there are sometimes specific rules for specific forums, such as the For Sale/Wanted area. Keep your eyes peeled.

Click the "Download" link, and then download the Portable Edition of version 3.10.0 (which is at the top of the page you are given). Or simply click here. It's not necessary to download the installer edition unless you want to be able to open it by opening the Start Menu, typing its name, and then clicking what you get.

So I mean, it's just downloadable software like anything else.

However, I recommend ATTO Disk Benchmark over anything else because only ATTO Disk Benchmark will show you the advertised Read/Write speeds (although, it displays it as Write/Read). Others like CrystalDiskMark will just show you what I think can be called "worst case scenario" results, so your results will look very low even though there's nothing wrong with your drive. Benchmarks other than ATTO Disk Benchmark seem to always confuse people, and I see at least one thread a week here on OCN by someone asking why their results are low.

However, any benchmarks that provides Write speeds needs to perform write-testing in order to provide those results. So, use these tests sparingly.

I downloaded two different versions from the previous link but when I click on either one of them they want to open in google chrome not in there own app which is why I asked about it being internet based or something like that. I will try the new linky you posted.

On another note I found the terms but still need to read them all. I still don't understand however why they would have the wanted section and the sell section linked together like that.

It tries to open in Google Chrome?! Is Google Chrome your default browser or something? Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing when you click it? I mean, the direct link I provided to CrystalDiskMark is a direct link to the .zip file, and the link to ATTO Disk Benchmark is just a simple hyperlink.

As for needing 35 Reps for both: they don't want a new person coming to OCN for the sole purpose of making a Wanted ad or a For Sale ad.

How do you do a screen shot of the computer to post? Yes it opens in google chrome and no its not my default browser. I didn't make it that so when I download stuff if it wants to add stuff to my browser I don't have to worry about it slowing down chrome it will just go to IE lol. Just don't open IE lol.

Without coming across being pricky let me explain the wanted section from my eyes. What you are telling me is that I have to earn a rep on something that I know very little about at this time in order to have the right to ask you if you would sell me something, lol? Not to sell you something but just for the right to ask members if they have something that I could BUY.

Don't get me wrong I COMPLETELY understand the selling section. I have been a member of a few other boards before (softball the most) and its a great way to keep new people from ripping off board members! But the few boards I have been on buying and selling was based off the deals that you did and holding up that said deal (along with other things like did you ship in a timely manner, was the item as described when the buyer received it, etc).

Not sure if this link will work but when I click on the program to open this is the link that goes into my google chrome and opens
file:///C:/Program%20Files/CrystalDiskMark/CdmResource/dialog/Main.html

thats the best I can do without knowing how to do a screen shot lol! Looking to see if I can figure that one out.

I didn't download your link as I had all ready downloaded that direct from the site
