It actually powers them up. The fans spin and everything.

When you mean nothing happens, like no signals, no electricity?

Does your screen just stay black? Does it flicker? Any post? Any beeps?

Maybe grasping for straws here, but take out the cmos battery for a bit and put it back in and try starting it up.

If it "boots" the rest of the stuff without the 12-pin cable, could be motherboard after all, and nothing to dow ith PSU.

Do like goobergump has suggested, take out the CMOS Battery for like 30 seconds and then put it back on, and re-try.

This sounds weird

Alright, that's a better option then. If you get your friend's PSU to fire up your rig, we could then say you need to RMA that PSU.

If not, I say you killed the Motherboard somehow.

I wish you good luck with your issue and I will stay tuned to this thread to help as much as I can.

I mean absolutely nothing happens. At most the psu fan will, for lack of a better word, flicker. I tried reseting cmos to no avail.

Thanks a lot. I probably won't be able to get my friend's power supply until Monday at least, so I'll update you at that point in time.

I just tested it out with my friend's PSU and the same problem is happening. Am I now correct in assuming that this is a motherboard issue?

Is it possible that it could be the CPU? It seems very strange that it powers on when the 8 pin CPU power is not plugged in....
