you also never gave us a budget that you would like to stay with in....otherwise people are going to assume you have rediculous amounts of $$$$ and tell you to buy a 6990 or GTX590 which area $700+ grafix cards lol

ok well i also have another question if u can answer it bro

can my amd 3.4ghz processor be removed if i ever wanted to put it on another one?

and my price budget i say would be possibly $200-$350/$400

also someone said that unlocking it would just harm it, is that true?
P.S. i wouldnt know how to do that anyways & what would be the difference?

if u can please answer all question im sorryy, but im learning (:

I'd say either get the GTX480 or GTX580 because a lot of people are saying that almost every card in the 500 series except for the 580 have some issues that causes them to fail / burn.. maybe its the vrams or something...I dont know for sure..

And the unlockable Processors, There is a reason why they lock it, usually thats because it has a defective core or as I heard.. Didn't AMD once sold some of their defective Quadcore processors as Tri Core with the defective core locked?

At that budget the 580 is out. I would say get a 570 and OC it -- but being a owner of the card... let me say that the weak VRMs are very disconcerting.

In your situation, I would go for the 6950 and unlock it to a 6970 -- you can get the card for about $275 on newegg

if you are looking for the fastest nvidia card it's the gtx 590 but dual gpu on one graphics card sucks so just get the 580 or two, if you have the money and power supply + mobo supports it

EDIT: sorry i just saw your specs
A gtx 570 fits in your budget. A 6950 1GB is great value for under $250, but if you want to flash it to a 6970, you need the 2gb version. If you must go nvidia, the gtx 560 ti is also $250 or you can get the gtx 460 and save money to upgrade other stuff

Just because there is a thread where 12 have died does not mean all 570s are junk. Mine was sitting at 850/1700/2000 @ 1.063v for 3 months and never protested a bit.

@ OP I say get the 580. There's nothing wrong with the 570 either though. As long as you aren't a n00b overclocker you won't harm your card. Keep temps in check and don't disable OCP and you'll be fine.

OCP is over current protection, fyi. I don't know about you guys but that's not something I'd want to disable on my $350-700 video cards.

Good luck.

The best video card for the money is a used gtx 480. Dont listen to people who say gtx 580 when an intelligent person wont spend more than $150-$200 on something that isnt that much better.
