How many loops and in which order?

Thread Starter
Almost got everything all set for my build, originally was going to do and RX480 and 240 in 1 loop with my cpu and gpus. Now I am looking to add my mobo into the mix. Question is would I be fine using those 2 rads for a single loop with cpu mb and gpus in the loop for should I run 2 loops. If need be I can grab another RX240 and run it in the front bay of the tj07. I have 2 35x pumps already since they were on sale with crazypc.

My first time wcing so I am not sure in which order to place the loop, as of right now my plan was to go res>pump>480>240>gpu2>gpu1>cpu>res or would I be better off going res>pump>480>cpu>240>gpu2>gpus1? Now if I add the mobo to the mix which way should I go?

Parts I currently have 2 35x pumps, RX480, RX240, 2 Aquacomputer aquagraFX gpu blocks, Aquacomputer cuplex kryos XT, and of course have my tj07 sitting around waiting to be modded.

Still waiting for the funds to order res, fittings, and tubing. And of course I will be putting up a log when I start the build.

That will be plenty of rad for your loop, the mobo doesn't put out much power compared to the CPU and GPUs. I would go for a single loop as they are better for general use (gaming, browsing etc), and only loose out by a small margin during heavy use (folding). The only thing is that the mother board blocks tend to be really restrictive, so you would need a powerful pump....

Or two. One should be fine, but if you want to use both then go for it. Just be aware that depending on the res you use you might have issues with vortexes (whirlpools) due to the high flow rate.

Generally speaking loop order is not too important. It takes ~250W to raise the water by 1C at 1GPM, so going through your two 470s working flat out would raise it by ~2C at 1 GPM (which you will be way above anyway). Is 2C going to affect your OC? Probably not.

I would go for the loop order that gives the cleanest line, rather than have spaghetti in your case.

Good luck with that!

Yes, push / pull AP-15s on that much rad will be more than enough to cool your rig, you should be seeing some very nice temperatures.

to me, it makes most sense to go with what you want to be the most cooled, for instance the water coming fresh off the rad is going to have the lowest temp, and obviously as it passes that cpu, it will get warmer, and so on, i dont know what the end temp before it goes back in through them rads are, but thats what i would do, i only got my cpu and vid card in my loop, and my cpu is first, vid card second, but they are always about the same temp any how,

so thats how i would look at it, coldest to hottest as the water moves, although the water will never get "hot" or i would hope not....
