Ek multioption res, can i have inlet in top cap?

Thread Starter
hi guys, i have a Ek multioption res, the res is 10 inch long, has a inlet on the top cap, on the bottom, and 2 out the bottom side, i also have a pump thats like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835108082 its just like that, just says liang on it, had it for a few year/s i know its got a decent flow rate probably the same as that pump, same design and inside of it,

so yeah, can i have the Inlet spray water from the top of the res, and have it say about half full or over half? or will there be Wayyy too many air bubbles??

here is what the res looks like ,thanks

You can have the top as inlet, but you'll need either the pipe that came with it, or a barb connected to a pipe. I had to use the latter option, although I do wish I'd got the one with 2 inlets, as it would have made my life much eaiser.

I first had mine with no pipe, just dropping in the res, and it was 3/4 full, it made a load of bubbles and there was no way I could bleed it. It sounded horrible:

As you can see, it just made way too many bubbles.

(and that's with my pump below the res!)

You have two options, do what I did and use a barb to go in the underside of the res top, then connect a pipe to it and use that, or get the actual one that comes with the res.

Mine worked great, now looks like this:

and the pump is silent, as is the whole loop:

No

That'd be quite risky,

The inlet and outlet are interchangeable

Just make sure the inlet and outlet are both submerged under water. My EK res came with a little tube for the inlet (could be attached to any opening) such that the water coming in would be directed under the water level. This allows for the loop to be closed and prevent air from flowing inside the loop

EDIT: apologies if this makes no sense. its 630am and Im just surfing these forums
