120 hz or IPS monitor

Thread Starter
I am an avid gamer and web designer/3d graphics artist. I am looking to upgrade to atleast a 24" monitor because right now.. don't laugh.. I have a 36" PLASMA tv right now that has a maximum of 1600x1200 resolution.

I am looking at around 500 dollars for my monitor. + or - $50~

Suggestions? Bonus points awarded if I can use my Xbox 360 with it.

This automatically disqualifies all 120Hz TN panels. Get a U2410. Love it.
yep, graphics designing means really you automatically should get IPS. I feel the U2410 is too expensive for what it is vs. say the HP ZR24W.

HP ZR24W $400 shipped from a authorised HP sales and service center

http://www.costcentral.com/proddetai...08332/froogle/

S-IPS panel, low input lag (much lower than U2410), 5ms response time (anything below 10ms is fine).

No and there's no point anyway of doing that. don't follow crap advice one liner non-thinking crap like that. The HP ZR24W suits all your needs very well. Input lag matters much more than response time in FPS gaming.

have you tried a 120hz monitor? If not try one out...everything moves/scrolls so much nicer and it's easier on the eyes if you do in fact notice the difference. Unless your're a color specialist or a designer of some sort then 120hz should do it for you. For gaming it would be a much more smoother experience...but I don't know how many games you can lock at 120ps with your current GPU.

I told my self I would never make this mistake by responding to the tittles....Sorry OP heh heh

Looks like it comes down to preference..do you want to upgrade the GPU and utilize the 120hz? Otherwise I'd stick with a beautiful IPS monitor preferably the Dell for the design work. You can still game also without upgrading the GPU @ 60hz and enjoy brilliant colours!
