Whether or not a monitor has HDMI connector is not important as far as Nvidia Surround is concerned.

What makes a single GTX295 works with 3-monitor Nvidia 2D Surround is:-
the GTX295 has three output connectors (usually two DVIs and one HDMI)
If yours has such, just connect the two DVI outputs to DVI input of two monitors and then use a HDMI-to-DVI cable to make the 3rd connection.
This means, with your current single GTX295, you do not need the TH2G to run a 3-monitor setup.

If your GTX295 has only two outputs, then it does not work.

See the table below taken from:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dv-sys...echnology.html

As far as adding a 2nd GTX295 to for Quad SLI, I think the scaling is not bad but is also not very good. However, on the premise that you can get it very cheap, I would say 'yes'.

awesome so i have 2dvi and 1 hdmi, and i have this 300 dollar box that i dont need anymore, not enough rep to sell it, lol never sold on ebay, lol anyway. How come i dont see anything in my nvidia control panel about surround vision? do the monitors have to be hooked up for that to show? i have the newest drivers.

according to toms, it beat everything else, including gtx 280's in triple sli except when AA was on, i could care less about AA and i wonder how these cards will perform when that extra ram is being utilized on triple screen resolutions.
Also when all these tests were done, there wasn't triple channel ram available with i7s or better or ssd's , much less bottle neck now. Any opinions on this?

Yes. When 3 monitors are connected to and detected by a GTX295, you will see Surround becomes available under the SLI, Physx category.

IMHO, SSDs (vs HDDs) and triple channel (vs double channel) RAM do not make 'significant' gaming difference. The Archilles' heel of GTX295 is its amount of VRAM. The raw calculating power surely increases from 2 cores to 4 cores but the amount of VRAM available to each core is still limited by 896MB per core. This amount per core was hefty then but is getting insufficient for more modern games at higher resolution (2560x1600 and beyond...certainly your 5040x1050) with AA on.

Actually, as you already have all the hardware needed to run Nvidia Surround, why do you not try it out first hand now? This brings the immediate benefit of simplicity (ie taking TH2G out of the equation).

I think, as you are quite happy with your current setup, this means the VRAM issue does not bother you much (as you do not care much about AA). Additionally, the 2nd GTX295 is ''very cheap''. These 2 factors should be compelling enough for you to make the purchase.

i will try it very soon, had to order a dvi to hdmi adapter, and yes i probably will make the purchase, the only thing holding me back was the dx11 issue , thanks for your comments and help.
