Do you attach all those cables when you buy a new case?

I've never built a PC before. Do you need to attach every single one of those connectors to the motherboard, or only some of them? What do you attack to the PSU? Gah, I'm so confused.
Short answer no....just what you are using.

Must be attached:

24 pin
4/8 pin
HDD's/Optical drives
Any USB Headers for your devices (optional)
front panel (optional really)

well you should have wires (cables) that go to MB for HDD activity, Power, Reset, and then possibly if you have front USB and Head phone jacks, you will hook those to the appropriate spots on the MB.

Get you manual out for the case and MB ... take a breath.. and go slow. Its not so bad. I know it can look overwhelming but really its very easy.

How am I supposed to know what I am using? Where should I attach the PSU cables then? Theres a whole bunch of cables from both my PSU and my Case, and I am really not too sure what to attach where.

The sound connector if you have one might have two plugs on it, you will only use one. Your motherboard and case should have a book with diagrams that came with it showing all connections.

I think your better off looking for a vid on youtube. It will show you how to build a comp step by step.

Read the manual of the mobo tells you where the case cables go. The case cables are are usually marked one way or another. like HDD or power connector etc.

I already did. The video had a completely different PSU than the one that I have. Like there were no cables coming out of it. There were a multitude of connections and whatnot, but no cables.

God, this is very overwhelming. Where do you attach the cables from the PSU then?

Get everything else hooked up and worry about the psu last.

It will have two connectors that go to the mobo, A 24pin and a 4/8 pin near the cpu.
for everything else just find the appropriate looking cable end and hide the rest.
