Cant figure this out - BIOS settings

Thread Starter
I'm really just trying to learn something here and I'd be glad if someone could teach me what these things mean.

I flashed my BIOS and with it came a few new features it didn't have before; I'm having trouble getting a stable overclock when testing with Prime95(rounding error: .5 instead of .4). I've looked and can't find a satisfactory answer, and I'd like to understand a little bit about the nuts-and-bolts of how these setting work. They are under the "Clock Setting Fine Delay" expandable menu item. I don't understand the purpose, since I can set CAS, RAS etc, from the previous menu. I've attached the two screens that have the settings I'm referring to on them.

My board is a DFI Blood Iron-T2RL and I now have the most recent version of BIOS for it. The rest of my hardware is in my signature rig. I had been running stable at 416MHz FSB x8 for a couple years.

Also if anyone wants to comment on T1 vs T2, I'd be all ears. I have 4x2gb sticks of 1066 DDR2 5-5-5-15 GSkill and a E6750 Conroe.

Many thanks in advance
Dan

Oh, I forgot to mention that the fine delay settings are in "'n'-DEG" where 'n' is an integer between 1 and 20 I believe. You set the amount for how much one "DEG" is in the first box, so when you set the value in DEG's for the delays, you get a multiple of whatever the value of one DEG is.

normally i would leave these alone as messing whith these without sufficient knowledge can cause problems, when you flashed your bios the settings would have changed, just revert back to default in your bios and set back to normal and then put your timings and overclock in agian.
errors on prime could be the memory aint got enough voltage, the cpu or nb. try upping one 1 notch and trying again, if errors drop that one and up the other

Thanks. I Have been looking into bumping up voltages and will have to do that at some point no doubt, but I'd still like to know what these fine delay settings are for or a ballpark estimate for determining their optimum values.

Right after I flashed my bios, the default values were much different than the ones you see above. I changed them a little and couldn't even get my computer to post. So I reset the CMOS and the when the new default settings came up they were different numbers.

These settings do have a big effect on stability, I found that even a very small change made a difference in how long Prime95 would run.

I appreciate your response though, I rep'd you.

im not so sure myself with the ram settings past the basic 5 lol, but i have heard they can boost performance but not anything you would see day to day only in performance tests.

Any idea where you heard or read that information?

Id love to look into it for myself.
